The 23rd Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) is scheduled for January 11 to 19, 2025, in Dhaka. The festival’s main theme focuses on “Better Film, Better Audience and Better Society.” This event aims to enhance the quality of films and their impact on society.
The 23rd DIFF plans to showcase approximately 220 films. Around 70 countries are expected to take part in the event.
The festival will include movie showings, discussions and award presentations from both local and international filmmakers. Organizers have confirmed that the films chosen for screening have already been picked.
Festival Director Ahmed Muztaba Zamal shared with local media, “Preparations are underway for the Dhaka International Film Festival, which remains Bangladesh’s most prominent and esteemed film festival. We are confident that, as always, this event will play a vital role in promoting a sophisticated and uplifting cultural atmosphere.”
The selected films will be screened at different competitions including “Asian Cinema Section”, “Retrospective”, “Tribute”, “Wide Angle”, “Bangladesh Panorama Section”, “Cinema of the World Section”, “Children Films Section”, “Women Filmmakers Section”, “Short and Independent Films Section” and “Spiritual Films Section”.
Since 1992, the Rainbow Film Society has been organising the festival regulary.
The festival will be held at well-known locations such as the National Museum Auditorium, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, the Russian Cultural Centre, and the Alliance Française Auditorium.
