A three-day programme to mark the 111th birth anniversary of the national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam began at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy’s National Theatre Hall Tuesday evening.
The programme has been organised by the academy itself.
The programme began with placing of flowers at the poet’s grave on the Dhaka University campus.
The first day of the programme featured Nazrul songs, dance performances and recitations.
Nazrul singers Fakir Sumon, Jannat e Ferdous Lucky, Safia Naz, Sifat e Manjur, Rawson Ara Shoma, Uttam Kumar, Shahjahan Patoary, Tanvir Alam Sajib, Tanzika Karim Saralipi, Ziaul Hasan and Joseph Kamol Radix, among others, rendered songs in the programme.
Members of the organisations, Katthak Sampradaya, Rewaz and Gash Phul Nadi and Jhankar, presented dance performances in the programme.
Young recitation artiste Osman Goni recited his own poem on Nazrul in the programme.
Today, on the concluding day, noted singers Khalid Hossain, Sharmin Sathi Islam, Lina Taposi and Israt Jahan, among others, will present songs while members of the cultural organisations Nazrul Institute, Nazrul Academy, Shaptak and Agnibveena will render songs in chorus.
The dance organisations Amra Kajon from Bogra, Nritya Bihar from Khulna, Jago Art Centre and Benuka Lalitakala Kendra will present dance performances in the programme.
Recitation artistes Shimul Mustafa, Kazi Arif, Labanya Shilpi will recite in the programme.
Earlier, on Wednesday, singers Bulbul Mahalanabish, Kalpana Anam, Nadia Nawsin, Nasima Shahin Fancy, Prianka Gope, Sumon Chowdhury, Bijon Chandra Mistri, Moidul Islam, Sujit Mustofa and Salok Hossain sang solo songs in the programme.
Members of the cultural organisations Dolon Chanpa, Chhayanaut, Nibedan and Dharmarajik Shilpi Gosthi sang in chorus in the programme.
Recitation artistes Bhaskar Bandyopadhyay, Aslam Shihir and Majumder Biplob recited while the dance artistes of Bulbul Academy presented dance performances in the programme.
