Three people, including an employee of Barisal City Corporation, died of electrocution while fishing at Goriar Par of Kashipur in the city Thursday morning.
The deceased were identified as Syed Mizanur Rahman, 40, road-roller driver of Barisal City Corporation, Malek Howladar, 58, retired policeman, and Delwar Gazi, 35, fishermen.Family members said the victims had taken a pond on lease for cultivating fish.
Thursday morning, after the fazr prayers, they went to the pond for fish firming at around 5:00am.
Suddenly the live electric wire of 11,000 Volt (11KV) of under Rural Electrification Board fell on the victims.
They were taken to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared them dead, said Tarikul Huq, BCC chief engineer after visiting the spot.
