3 Noakhali cops sued
A departmental case was filed against three police members yesterday on charges of aiding and abetting a mob in beating a youth dead in Companyganj upazila of the district on July 27.
The accused police members are– sub-inspector Akram Uddin Sheikh and constables Abdur Rahim and Hemaranjan Chakma– of Companyganj Police Station.
Police let a mob beat 16-year-old Shamsuddin Milon to death on suspicion of being a robber at Tekerhat in Noakhali on that day.
Noakhali Superintendent of Police Harunur Rashid Hazari said he gave his consent for filing the case Thursday night and Assistant Superintendent of Police Ali Hossain was made the investigation officer of the case.
Meanwhile, the murder case filed by Milon’s mother earlier was handed over to Detective Branch (DB) of police.
Officer-in-Charge of DB, Noakhali, Billal Hossain said they have gathered video clippings of the incident recorded by locals.
We are trying to confirm and nab the culprits with the help of the video footage, he added.
