The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission is determined to hold the auction of
‘3G’ or Third Generation cellular phone services on September 2 as scheduled, as it has already been deferred twice for the convenience of the operators, said a top official of the regulator.
He hinted they would open the mobile broadband technology for other operators in different forms through revising the policy, if any cellular phone operator did not participate in the forthcoming bidding.
‘The much waited 3G auction will take place on time. If any operator does not participate in the bidding, we will think alternative . . . We could not linger the process further, as the commission has a roadmap in line with the government’s Vision 2021,’ BTRC chairman Sunil Kanti Bose told BSS.
