Two including a 10-year boy were killed in traffic accidents, a man was electrocuted and a construction worker was killed as a wall of a school building collapsed on him in the city on Saturday.
The minor boy, Ridoy, son of Jakir Hossian, resident of Segunbagicha, was killed as a truck rammed into a rickshaw, in which Ridoy and his mother were returning to their house, at about 1:45pm on Topkhana Road.
The locals rushed Ridoy and his mother to the Dhaka Medcial College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at about 2:30pm, the family said.
In another road accident, an unidentified woman was crushed by a truck near Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium at around 5:30am. The police recovered the body and sent to Dhaka Medcial College morgue.
In the afternoon, construction worker Mokhlesur Rahman, 45, hailed from Bhola, was killed as a wall of a primary school collapsed on him at around 4:30pm in the city’s Dholaikhal area.
Witnesses said that Mokhlesur and his fellow workers were cutting mud at Jorepool for a building site. Suddenly, a wall of nearby school collapsed on them, leaving two injured. The workers rushed them to Dhaka Medcial College Hospital, where Mokhlesur succumbed to his injuries at around 5:00pm.
At East Shewrapara, construction worker Jasim Uddin was electrocuted at around 5:00pm when he, along with his fellow workers, was working on the second floor of a building.
