More than 400 students of the Government Titumir College were sued for vandalising vehicles at Mohakhali and its surrounding areas in Dhaka on Saturday.
The police sub-inspector, Nur-e-Azam, filed the case with Gulshan police against over 400 unidentified students of Titumir College.
None was, however, arrested till Sunday evening in connection with the incident.
Several hundred Titumir College students went on the rampage at Mohakhali and surrounding areas following the rumoured death of a female student of the college in a road accident. The agitating students vandalised at least 100 vehicles soon after they had heard the rumoured death.
The investigation officer of the case, SI Shahidullah, said they were trying to identify the offenders by scrutinising the photographs published in the newspapers and also the video footage collected from different TV channels.
‘We have talked to the female student, Shamima Islam Shammi, who was injured in a road accident on Saturday. She is a student of Daffodil University and not a student of Titumir College.’
Shammi received minor injuries while crossing the road in front of the Titumir College at about 9:15am on Saturday, the police officer said
