News Report To prepare the students for the 21st century and to adapt them with the latest ICT friendly education, Daffodil International University (DIU) has distributed 520 laptops at free of cost among the students in the eighth phase at its continuous process of laptop project. Prof. Dr. Aminul Islam, founder vice-chancellor and Professor Emeritus of DIU, was present at the laptop distribution programme as the chief guest, says a press release. Presided over by Prof Dr. Engr. A K M Fazlul Hoque, registrar, the function was also addressed, among others, by Prof. Dr. M. Golam Rahman, dean of the faculty of humanities and social science, Prof. Dr. Golam Maowla Choudhury, controller of examinations, Syed Mizanur Rahman, director (student affairs), and Md. Mohin Chowdhury, senior accounts officer of DIU. DIU has taken an initiative of ‘One Student: One Laptop’ programme under which every student admitted into DIU from Summer Semester-2010 and onward is getting a laptop at free of cost. The laptops will help the students to equip themselves with proper technical knowledge so that they can survive and secure respectable place in the society. Through this initiative DIU students will get the opportunity to implement digital Bangladesh concept.
