At least six people died in different incidents in the capital on Monday and Tuesday.
At Shah Ali of Mirpur, police recovered the decomposed
body of an unidentified person Monday morning.
The body of the man, aged around 25, was found on the north of Shah Ali Shrine around 10.30pm. The body bore several injury marks.
Shah Ali police subinspector Masud Rana suspects that he might have been robbed and beaten to death.
At Banani, an unidentified man, round 30, died as a bus ran over him early Monday morning. Police recovered the body from near the Navy Headquarters.
Banani police station SI Ariful Islam suspects that the man might be a bus or truck assistant and died after falling from his vehicle and being run over by other vehicles.
At Bangsal, a worker died after falling from the second floor of the construction site Monday noon.
The victim was identified as Md Helaluddin, 23, from Bauphal of Patuakhali.
His father Abdul Khalek said Helaluddin was working on the second floor of a three-storey under-construction building. At one point, he fell asleep and fell to the road.
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and died there from his injury Monday noon.
At Khilgaon, a young man died as bus ran over him.
The victim was identified as Rayhan, 20, an employee of a tailor’s at Shabujbagh.
The victim’s father, Md Ali, said Rayhan, along with two of his friends, was on a van on the Shab-e-barat night as a bus of Turag Paribahan hit the van around 2:00am.
He was rushed to DMCH where doctor pronounced him dead. The other two, Alauddin and Razib, were admitted to the hospital in a critical condition.
At Pallabi, a housewife, Nasima Begum, 45, killed herself drinking liquid Savlon Tuesday morning.
Her daughter Rajia Begum said Nasima was a cancer patient. As the pain increased, she drank a bottle of Savlon to stop pain.
At Uttara, an unidentified person died in road accident. The man, aged around 21, was found in a critical condition at Uttrara sector-3.
Police took him to the DMCH where he died from his injury Tuesday mooring.
