At least seven people were killed and 36 injured in separate road accidents in Dinajpur, Netrakona, Benapole and Sylhet on Saturday and yesterday.
Our correspondent from Dinajpur reports: At least three people, including two children, were killed in separate road accident in the district yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Arman Hossain, 34, his 4-year old daughter Juthi Begum of Khanpur village under the upazila and Bappi, a 12-year old boy of Md Aminul Islam of Sherpur village of Parbatipur upazila of the district.
Aysha Begum, wife of Arman, was critically wounded in the accident and is now being treated at Parbatipur Lamb Hospital.
Local sources said the first accident occurred when a Parbatipur-bound bus rammed the motorcycle carrying Arman along with his wife and daughter at Dinajpur-Parbatipur Highway in Kebattyapara village, killing Arman and his daughter on the spot.
In another accident, a truck ran over Bappi while he was crossing the Parbatipur-Phulbari Highway in Sherpur village.
Our correspondent from Netrakona adds: At least two people were killed and 35 others injured in a road accident on Durgapur-Mymensingh road at Mahishbar of Purbadhala upazila in the district on Saturday night.
The deceased are Altu Mia, 40, of Mahishbar village and Abdus Salam, 40, of Paboi village of the same upazila.
Police said the accident occurred when the driver of a Mymensingh-bound bus lost control over the steering and fell into a roadside ditch.
Seriously injured Mohammad Alauddin, Abdul Hannan, Hekmot Ali Master, Jatindra Chandra Sarker, Asha Rani Sarkr, Salim Mia, Iman Ali and Bachchu Mia were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Others were admitted to Purbadhala Upazila Health Complex and Netrokona Sadar Hospital.
A correspondent from Benapole reports: A man on a motorcycle was killed in a road accident at Chhoto Achra intersection under Benapole Port Police Station of the district yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as Rafiqul Islam Babu, 35, son of Wajed Mia of Karim Ali village under the police station.
Police said the accident occurred when Babu lost control of his motorcycle while he was going to Navaron and hit a roadside tree, killing him on the spot.
Staff correspondent from Sylhet adds: Agitating locals barricaded Habiganj-Nabiganj road yesterday after a man died in a road accident at Aliganj bazar of Baniachang upazila at 8:30am yesterday.
They also vandalised eight vehicles before police and local leaders cleared the road after three hours.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Momin Tarafder of Sikondatpur village in the upazila.
Police said a Nabiganj-bound human-hauler ran over Momin at the bazar. He was rushed to Habiganj Sadar Hospital where physicians declared him dead.
Locals handed over the driver Iqbal Hossain to police and set the human-hauler on fire.
