The 2nd day of 72 hours hartal enforced by two Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) based Bangali equal rights demanding organizations Parbattya Bangali Nagorik Parishad (PBNP) and Parbattya Banagali Chattra Parishad (PBCP) in the Rangamati, Khagrachari and Bandarban passed today without any untoward incident. Bangali communities of the CHT region has been protesting against the newly proposed draft proposal of CHT Land Dispute Resolution Commission Act 2013 which may be placed in the current parliament session soon.
In the Rangamati district no vehicles plied on the roads and no vessels moved in the Kaptai Lake during the hartal hours. All business establishments and educational institutions remained closed during the hartal hours.
The attendance of government and non government offices was very poor during the time. In the last hour today, leaders of hartal supporters submitted a memorandum to the Speaker of the Parliament through the Deputy Commissioner of the district in favor of their demands and urged the Speaker to held up the controversial CHT Land Dispute Commission Act 2013 in the current parliamentary session.
