7th International Inter University Photography Exhibition (IIUPE) by the North South University Photographic Society (NSUPC) begins today at Drik Gallery, Dhanmondi, says a press release.
The exhibition will open this afternoon at 4pm. Pro Vice-Chancellor of North South University, Dr. S.A.M Khairul Bashar, will inaugurate the exhibition. Noted media personality and photo enthusiast Aly Zaker will be present as special guest.
The exhibition is open to all, from today to July 14. The second phase of the exhibition will begin on July 15 at the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, and will continue till July 22.
IIUPE started in 2003 with the participation of two international and nine local universities. This year, 152 photographers’ works representing 46 universities (28 local and 18 international) from 15 countries have been selected for the exhibition by the jury.
The participating countries are: Australia, Bangladesh China, Egypt, France, India, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Nepal, Panama, Poland, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Turkey and United Kingdom.
Among the photographs, 239 single entries and eight photo stories have competed for 37 awards under different categories. The entries have been categorised as color and black and white media, which were further classified into eight sub-categories: action, portrait, life, architecture, nature, still life, landscape and photo story.
The award giving ceremony will be held at the National Art Gallery, on July 15
