The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations under the ten education boards will begin on April 1 across the country with 9.26 lakh sitting for the test. This is for the first time the examinees facing creative type questions in Bangla First paper. Earlier, these students needed to face creative type questions in their SSC exams. Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid at a press briefing on Thursday said the necessary measures had been taken to ensure cheating-free exams halls.
Like previous years, the minister urged political leaders and local public representatives not to enter examination centres unless they have ‘specific’ reasons to do so.
Bangla first paper exam will be held on the first day. The theoretical exams will end on May 20 and the practical tests to be ended on June 6.
The students with disabilities would get 20 extra minutes to complete exams with the help of their scribes.
Of the total examinees, some 4,96,395 boys and 4,30,419 girls students of 7,556 educational institutions will take the exams.
Apart from 2,196 centres in Bangladesh, the exams will also be held in four overseas centres in Doha, Abu Dhabi and Jeddah cities for 189 students. The education minister said number of examinees increased with the increasing number of educational institutions. As many as 268 educational institutions are new, he said.
The highest number of 235,720 examinees will appear under Dhaka board and the Sylhet board will have the lowest 37,743, like every year.
Some 7,50,852 students will take the exam under eight general education boards while 85,226 will sit the Alim exam under Madrassa Board and 86,415 in HSC (Business Management) exam under technical education board. The number of examinees of Diploma in Business Studies (DIBS) under Dhaka board is 4,321.
