The Rajshahi University (RU) authorities have taken an initiative to launch digital system for the first year honours admission test from the 2010-11 academic sessions.
The admission test is scheduled to be held from October 30 to November 2. The decision was taken at a meeting on Saturday night with the university vice-chancellor, professor M Abdus Sobhan in the chair.
According to a press release of University public relation office, the applicants could buy admission forms using teletalk SIM, a government operates mobile phone from 25 September to October 9.
Under the new admission system, the admission seekers would get the information about admission test including publication of result, seat plans, viva and admission date through mobile phone and internet, the sources added.
Admission seekers should have total GPA (SSC and HSC) 8.00 at least 3.50 in any exam for science students, total GPA (SSC and HSC) 7.00 at least less 3.25 in any exam for Humanities group student, total GPA (SSC and HSC) 7.50 at least less 3.50 in any examination. Students of A level and O level have to grade B at least in two subjects. The admission seekers have to buy admission form for TK 150 such unit which have only one subject, TK 200 for two departments unit, TK 250 for three subjects unit, TK 300 for four subjects unit and TK 3.50 for five subjects unit.
To know details about the admission test the admission seekers have to visit the university website www.ru.ac.bd. The units of the university are Humanities faculty: unit A: A-1 Bangla, A-2 English, A-3 philosophy, history and Islamic history, A-4 Arabic literature and Islamic studies, A-5 language, A-6 dramatics and music, fine and arts. Law faculty: B law and justice. Science faculty: unit C: C-1 chemistry, and bio chemistry, C-2 physics, mathematics, applied mathematics, population science and statistic. Business studies faculty: unit D: Accounting, management, marketing and finance and banking.
Social science faculty: unit E: E-1 economics, social work, social science, anthropology and folklore. E-2: political science, mass communication and journalism, public administration and information and library management. Biology faculty: unit F: F-1 geography and psychology, F-2 botany and zoology, f-3 geography and mining.
Agriculture faculty: unit G: genetic and biotechnology, fishery, agronomy, animal husbandry and crop science. Engineering faculty: Applied physics, chemical engineering, information and communication engineering, computer science and material science.
