Gulshan Club came forward to provide 18 air tickets for the Germany-bound national hockey players after coach Rach Gerhard Peter failed to arrange the tickets as per his commitment.
Rach, the German coach of the national hockey team, was supposed to provide the tickets to the 18 players who will be playing for German second division clubs with a view to preparing themselves for the Asian Games. But he failed to make the necessary arrangements and the hockey federation found a saviour in Gulshan Club. Rubel Aziz, the president of Gulshan Club, handed over the tickets to the Bangladesh Hockey Federation officials on Saturday.
Khondoker Jamiluddin, general secretary of the hockey federation, was thankful to the Gulshan Club. ‘I express my gratitude to Gulshan Club as they came forward to save the national players’ tour, without their help the players would have failed to fly out to Germany,’ said Jamiluddin.
Ace forward Rasel Mahmud Jimmy is not flying with the tour party because of his father’s illness. The players will leave for Germany today.
