A huge rush of students besieged the government medical colleges in the city on Monday, which was the first day for distribution of admission test forms for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.
Forms were distributed by three medical colleges in the city, and the authorities of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College had to stop distribution as no more forms were left.
Khandakar M Sefayet Ullah, director of medical education of the Directorate of Health Services, said, ‘We estimated that each college would need 5,000 forms.’
‘There is trend among the country’s students to come to Dhaka after the HSC exams and rush to colleges for getting admission and test forms, and they stay until they get admitted to any university, leading to an increase of the number of students in Dhaka,’ he said.
Sefayet said that the Mymensingh Medical College distributed 1,100 forms, Chittagong Medical College 1,000 forms, Rajshahi Medical College 1,100 forms and Comilla Medical College 667 forms.
The admission tests will be held on 22 October throughout the country. The seating plan and results will be published online, said the director.
