Wins for men, women
The Bangladesh men’s and women’s teams won their respective ninth round matches in the 39th World Chess Olympiad in Russia on Thursday.
The men’s team beat Yemen by 2.5-1.5 points while the women got better of their Dominican Republic counterparts by 3-1 points.
In this round, FM Abu Sufian Shakil beat CM Abdul Moula Sabri, FM Mohammad Javed beat FM Gameel Mohamed, FM Minhazuddin Ahmed Sagar drew with FM Al-Hadarani Hatim while Debaraj Chatterjee lost against IM Al-Zendani Zendan. Men’s team have nine match points and 19 game points after the ninth round.
In the women’s section, WFM Shamima Akter Liza beat WFM Perez Eneida, Sharmin Sultana Shirin beat Jose Polanco Kenia, Masuda Begum beat Munoz Doris (Rating-1931) while WIM Rani Hamid lost to Hazim Elizabeth.
