The East West University team has won the first prize in the inter-university debating competition’s Bangla event while the London College of Legal Studies ‘S’ group has won the first prize in the English event.
The final round of the debating championship was held at East West University in the city on September 30, said a press release.
In the Bangla event, Jahangirnagar University became the runner-up while the Institute of Business Administration of Dhaka University won the same prize in the English event.
A total of 70 teams took part in this competition titled ‘Debate for the freedom of Mind’.
Shariff Enamul Kabir, vice-chancellor of Jahangirnagar University, awarded the winners of the competition.
Emphasising building a nation based on proper knowledge, he said the knowledge must come through research by students and scholars.
Farashuddin, president of the board of directors of EWU, also spoke on the occasion.
