76 students vie for each seat
The admission tests for all units and institutes except ‘Kha’ (social science faculty) and ‘Ga’ unit (arts and humanities faculty) for academic session 2010-11 at Jahangirnagar University begin today.
The tests begin with ‘Chha’ unit today and of the rest units, the test of ‘Ka’ unit will be held on October 25, ‘Gha’ unit on October 26, ‘Woa’ and ‘Cha’ unit on October on 27.
The exam schedules have been put up at different points of the university.
The admission test for each unit will be held at several sessions to make the process easier, exam controller office sources said.
In total, 1,21,942 applicants will fight for 1,606 seats in 30 departments and 2 institutes this year.
This year, 20,600 forms for ‘Ka’ unit (mathmetical and physical faculty), 15,460 forms for ‘Kha’ unit (social science faculty), 25,582 forms for ‘Ga’ unit (arts and humanities), 26,600 forms for ‘Gha’ unit (biological science faculty), 20,558 forms for ‘Woa’ unit (business academic faculty), 5,644 forms for ‘Cha’ unit, 7,498 forms for ‘Chha’ unit have been submitted.
A total of 59 applicants in ‘Ka’ unit, 48 in ‘Kha’ unit, 67 in ‘Ga’ unit, 98 in ‘Gha’ unit, 102 and 103 in ‘Woa’ unit, 102 in ‘Cha’ unit, and 187 in ‘Chha’ unit will vie for each seat this year.
The exam result will be known from the university website http://www.juniv.edu/ and through mobile phone.
Mentionable, the university authorities have postponed ‘Kha’ unit and ‘Ga’ unit admission tests for an indefinite period following a High Court order.
The order was issued after a writ petition filed by madrassah students challenging the decision
of the authorities to restrict their admission to the university.
