The Walton 24th National Swimming Championship gets underway tomorrow at the National Swimming Complex in Mirpur.
Some 437 swimmers including 82 female competitors will take part in the meet.
The swimmers will compete in 38 gold (19 each for both male and female) events. Besides, the events of diving and water polo have been also been added. The timing will be recorded in an electronic board.
Of an estimated budget of Tk 7.5 lakh, sponsors Walton will provide Tk 3.5 lakh.
Jahid Ahsan Russell, the chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on Youth and Sports Ministry. This was disclosed at a press conference at National Sports Council auditorium yesterday.
Mahbubur Rahman Shahin, Bangladesh Swimming Fede-ration general secretary, infor-med that they conducted training sessions across the country before the champions and the swimmers would be able to show their potential in the meet.
