GM Ziaur Rahman and FM Minhazuddin Ahmed Sagar maintained joint lead in the Berger Six Seasons Grandmasters Chess tournament at the close of seventh round at Tulip Lounge of the Uttara Club yesterday.
Both Zia and Sagar have 4.5 points as Zia drew with IM Sahaj Grover and Sagar drew with FM Yee Soon Wei. Sagar now needs only a point from the last two games for his second International Master norm.
GM Niaz Murshed and FM Abu Sufian Shakil were jointly in second position with four points each. Niaz drew with GM Vakhidov Tair while Shakil beat FM Mehdi Hasan Parag. FM Sayatan Das beat Bitan Banerjee.
