Relatives ransacked a private clinic in the Rajshahi city Friday evening after a female gave birth to a stillborn baby allegedly because of the negligence of on-duty staff of the clinic.
Sources said Akhi Khatun, resident of the city’s Darikharbona, with abdominal pain contacted with gynecologist and also one of the owners of Dolphin Clinic Shamim Akter Flora, and according to her suggestion, Akhi was admitted to the clinic at Bornali Mor of the city.
As there was no doctor at the clinic, the attendants of Akhi again contacted with Shamim Akter Flora, who said she was out of Rajshahi and had phoned a specialist doctor of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital to go to Dolphin Clinic to see the patient.
At around 5:00pm, two nurses of the clinic told the attendants that Akhi was going to give birth to a child and after sometimes the nurses informed them that Akhi had given birth to a stillborn baby.
Akhi’s husband Sumon Hasan told New Age that the child died because of the negligence of the nurses.
At around 5:30pm, local people from Darikharbona stormed the clinic and damaged furniture and smashed glasses of the clinic.
A contingent of police from the Boalia police station brought the situation under control.
Sumon Hasan told New Age that they would file a murder case against the nurses, physician, and owner of the clinic in this connection.
The owner of the clinic Shamim Akter Flora could not be reached for comment on mobile.
