The Rajshahi University business studies faculty students on Wednesday went out on demonstrations on the campus, demanding same grading system for all departments and sessions.
As part of the demonstration, they brought out a procession, formed a human chain, held a rally and submitted a memorandum to the vice-chancellor to press home their demand.
Several hundred students participated in the human chain in front the university central library at 12:00pm.
Representatives from RU cultural, volunteer and political organisations also participate in the programmes.
Speakers at the rally complained that the business studies faculty maintained two separate grading systems that created difficulties for the students of different sessions in job market.
They said the marks difference between two grades in 2005-06 session is 10, but the difference is only 5 marks in 2006-07 to 2010-11 sessions.
The grading system for 2005-06 session has only five grades, but other sessions have eight grades, the students said in the rally.
The students also threatened to go for tough movements if their demand was not met immediately.
Faculty students Bishwajit Kumar, Hayatuzzaman Khan Himon, Sultan Mahmud Bakul, Fakhrul Islam Himel, Shaon Ahmed, among others, addressed the rally.
Later, they submitted a memorandum to the vice-chancellor to press for their demand.
Rajshahi University vice-chancellor Abdus Sobhan told New Age that they would place and consider the faculty students’ demand in next syndicate meeting.
