A man died in mass beating in the Munshiganj district headquarters on Sunday.
The deceased was Mohammad Nizam, 45, a resident of Guherkandi in the district.
The police and witnesses said Nizam, a wanted thief of the area, was caught by local people near the Eidgah area of village Makuhati Sunday noon. They beat up him and left critically injured.
Nzam was taken to Munshiganj General Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
The body was sent to the hospital for autopsy.
A total of 30 people have been lynched in the country since November 1, 2010, according to a New Age tally.
According to rights group Odhikar, one hundred and thirty people were lynched in 11 months of this year.
