Defending Dhaka Premier League champions Mohammedan Sporting Club sacked skipper Khaled Mashud on Thursday and replaced him with national star Sakib al Hasan after just two matches of the new season.
Mashud, who helped the side regain the trophy after eight years in the last season, was made their new head coach as well as the captain of the team.
The decision came following Mohammedan’s tie match against Prime Doleshwar in the second round on Tuesday. Mashud was blamed for the tie match, which Mohammedan started so well with Tamim Iqbal making 70 off 49 balls.
Mashud made eight runs off 21 balls at the crucial stage as Mohammedan lost their momentum and finished on the same score of newcomers Doleshwar.
