Siddikur Rahman dominated the first day of the BTI Golf Championship as expected as he led the pack at the Kurmitola Golf Club on Sunday.
Siddik ended the day with (-6) under par with 66 shots on a 72-shot course, he displayed his superb talent as he hit eight birdies at the holes 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 14, 17, 18 and unfortunately also stroked two bogies at the 8th and 13th.
Though Mohammad Nazim, an amateur golfer, almost stole the show as he started the tournament with an ‘eagle’ [a score of 2-under par on a par-4 hole] as he sunk the ball with only two shots when at the first hole a maximum of four shots were allowed
Shakhawat Hossain claimed the second spot on the leaderboard at the end of the day with (-5) under par. Jamal Hossain and Abdul Kadir were placed third jointly after both of them scored an identical (-3) under par.
After the end of the day’s play, Siddik told reporters he is pleased that the BPGA has organised this kind of tournament which was long overdue and it is planning to do so regularly. He also added that he would love to see the international golfers playing in the future tournaments as it would help the young golfers of our country.
