The Somali pirates who hijacked the Bangladeshi-flagged ship MV Jahan Moni were contacted again yesterday after four days.
Officials of the ship’s operating farm Brave Royal Ship Management Ltd in Chittagong made the telephone contact around 4:00pm and managed to talk with the ship’s captain Farid Ahmed.
Meherul Karim, general manger of Brave Royal, said they have repeatedly tried to contact the pirates since December 31.
All the crew on board the ship are well, Meherul quoted the captain as saying.
Meherul, however, declined to give any detail on the negotiation of ransom. “We had some talks regarding the ransom but it is still in initial stage.”
