Electrical Engineer Mohammad Sahabu Alam of hijacked Bangladeshi ship MV Jahan Moni, now suffering from high blood pressure and leg oedema, sought Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s initiative for their early rescue.
Somali pirates allowed Sahabu to phone his wife Afroza Akhter residing in Chittagong’s Chawkbazar area yesterday, said Afroza.
Sahabu is among 26 Bangladeshis who is confined in the ship since it was hijacked by the pirates on December 5 last year.
Earlier, Janhan’s owner and Chairman of Brave Royal Mohammed Shahjahan met with the crew’s family members on January 23 and said negotiations over ransom reached a reasonable stage during a conversation on January 15.
