The 20th annual US Trade Show begins at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel tomorrow, the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh told a media conference on Tuesday.
A number of new companies and a delegate of 18 members of the AmCham India will participate in the three-day show.
Economic and commercial counsellor of the US embassy in Dhaka Heather C Variava and AmCham Bangladesh president Aftab ul Islam and executive director A Gafur addressed the conference at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel.
AmCham Bangladesh expressed the hope that the show would create a good opportunity for Bangladesh to attract investment from the United States of America and India in sectors like information technology, pharmaceuticals, and infrastructure.
‘The US Trade Show 2011 will be the largest-ever trade show organised by AmCham Bangladesh as Indian entrepreneurs are keen to send a delegation to it for the first time. So, we hope that the economy of Bangladesh will move ahead,’ Aftab ul Islam said.
Finance minister AMA Muhith will inaugurate the expo as the chief guest at 10:30am with US ambassador to Bangladesh James F Moriarty present, among others.
Seventy-five exhibitors occupying 137 booths are taking part in the show. Of them Coca-Cola, Western Union, Herman Millar, SC Johnson, 3m Technologies, Monsanto, and Nebraska Health System are taking part in the exposition for the first time.
The show will remain open for public from 10:00am to 8:00pm. The entry fee is Tk 20 per person. School students in uniform and other students with identity cards are exempted from the payment of entry fee.
