The Chittagong Water Supply and Sewerage Authority, through a ceremony at the Arefin Nagar Hill in the city at 11:00am on Wednesday, launched the third phase of Karnaphuli Water Supply Project.
The goal of the project financed by a loan from the Japan International Coopera-tion Agency to the Govern-ment of Bangladesh is to strategically improve the management capacity of CWASA.
CWASA managing director AKM Fazlullah, addressing the launching ceremony, said after completion of the phase of the project, CWASA would be able to supply more 136 litres of water to the city dwellers.
Now, CWASA supply only 200 litres of water each day as against the demand of 500 litres, he said.
The programme was also addressed, among others, by JICA senior representative Endoh San, CWASA deputy managing director Syed Touidur Rahman and executive engineer Yakub Sirajullah and the project director Safi Ullah.
