Labour leaders on Thursday said ferequent strikes were taking their toll on the low income poeple including labourers, hitting hard their life and livihood.
At a human chian, they urged political parties to ensure safety of common people as they were always the victims of political violence.Jatiya Garhastha Nari Sramik Union and Bangladesh Swasthay Seba Karmi Sangha jointly organised the protest in front of the National Press Club.
Labour leader Abul Hossain said because of the frequent strikes enforced by political parties the livelihood of low income people was under threat.
He called for united movement to save the large number of people from such sufferings.
Abul Hossain called on working women to raise their voice to protest at the threat Hefajat-e-Islam posed towards women.
He said working women of the country were feeling insecure owing to this threat for which he demanded immediate implementation of the National Women Policy to ensure the rights of women.
Workers Party leader Kamrul Ahsan, Kishor Roy, Farhana Islam Doly and labour leader Amirul Haque Amin also spoke at the human chain.
