Several information and communication technology organisations in Rajshahi on Sunday formed a human chain and declared continued protests including sit-in,
if internet prices for end users were not reduced.
The human chain was formed at Shaheb Bazar ZeroPoint in the city under the banner of Eligible Youth for Evolution.
They demanded that internet price should be fixed at Tk 0.10/day per megabyte and Tk 10/day per gigabyte within 15 days.
If the demands are not met within the declared time frame,
non-stop sit-in will be started, an organiser of the movement said.
They also said they had plans to form a bigger platform for the movement with an aim to reduce internet prices.
Speakers also said the government trimmed bandwidth price to a minimum, but the end users are not receiving the benefit.
They said internet service providers were selling bandwidth at a higher rate to the end users after buying it at low prices, while the users must share more than 20 lines among subscribers, even though they were only meant to share four lines.
It was reported that most internet users were dependent on mobile internet services, so the regulators should also look into it.
