Gallery Chitrak has organised a group exhibition to raise funds to help the Rana Plaza victims and their families.
Titled Human Being for Humanity, the exhibition showcases 41 paintings, drawings and sketches by 40 renowned artists of the country like late Safiuddin Ahmed, Qayyum Chowdhury, Murtaja Baseer, Hashem Khan,
Rafiqun Nabi, Syed Jahangir, Hamiduzzaman Khan, Samarjit Roy Chowdhury, Jamal Ahmed, Biren Shome, Shahid Kabir, Nissar Hossain and others.
The drawing entry by Rafiqun Nabi portraying two crows vertically facing each other as if in a conversation is definitely a piece worth securing by an art lover.
Another painting titled Pakhira by Qayyum Chowdhury is a vividly colourful one where yellow birds and greenish butterflies have been depicted against a backdrop of grey wall. This is another thought-provoking piece.
Nasreen Begum’s Nari is an eye-catching oriental artwork revealing the sitting posture of a beautiful woman with garlands around her neck.
Shahid Kabir’s entry depicting a woman drying her hair with a towel after shower is another painting one can fall in love with.
Art aficionados and collectors will find wonderful paintings done in different mediums at the exhibition for sale Prices for the artworks vary between Tk 10,000 and Tk 250,000.
‘It is our duty to stand by them, to do as much as we can,’ said Md Muniruzzaman, executive director of Gallery Chitrak.
‘The money we hope to collect through the exhibition will be handed over to prime minister’s donation fund for the disaster victims,’ he added.
Inaugurated on June 08, the exhibition will remain open from 10am to 8pm everyday till June 15.
