Noted music organisation of the country Uttarayan celebrated its third founding anniversary through a cultural programme at the National Museum auditorium on Friday.
Titled ‘Phuler Preme Rabindranath’, the programme was designed to cover some best-known songs and poems by Tagore that have allusions to different flowers such as kodombo, juthi, chapa, jui, jarul, korobi, chameli and others.
Tagore’s poems and songs are replete with references to as many as 70 flowers of different species of Bengal.
Planned and directed by Lily Islam, the programme was enriched with performances by members of Uttarayan, along with herself.
Noted recitation artistes Bhashwor Bandopaddhyay and Dalia Ahmed recited on the occasion.
The programme had presentation of a total of 17 songs and three poems including well-known songs like Eso nipabane, Mor bhabanare ki hawai, Kamal baner madhup raji, Pakhi bole chapa, Enechha oi shirish, amar phuler mala, and poems like Cammelia, Banabali.
Kolkata-based musician Durbadal Chattapoddhay (violin), Rahul Chattapaddhay (Sitar), Shuvayu Sen Majumder (Esraj), Goutam Sen (Key board), Joydeb Nandi (Tabla) and Sanjiban Acharya (Percussion) spiced the programme with their performances.
A large number of audience enjoyed the programme at the auditorium, and many others enjoyed it through the live telecast on private television channel Maasranga.
Uttarayan’s last two years founding anniversary celebration programme Ebong Borsha and Chirokaler Rabindranath were also well-received and acclaimed by audiences.
