Two pipes among 250 pipes at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium were unproductive due to a lack of maintenance which has potentially put the drainage system of
the ground in trouble ahead of the World Twenty20 next year.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board, however, dispelled the doubts stating that the pipes will be put to order within a few days.
Manager of the grounds and facilities committee, Abdul Baten disclosed that the cracks in the pipes had indeed developed but said that they will be mended by four or five days.
‘Two pipes are unproductive at the moment but we are working hard to fix it,’ he said.
‘250 pipes were set up to drain out the water properly but two pipes near the grand stand developed cracks. We have brought new pipes and they are ready to be set up. Hopefully the problem will be resolved within four or five days,’ he added.
