The developing partners should allocate more funds for skill development of workers in Bangladesh for increasing workers competitiveness on the international market, said the Bangladesh Employers’ Federation in the fourth global review of Aid for Trade
Development organised by the World Trade Organisation.Donors should allocate more funds for different skilled development programme and reduce the formalities to make the allocation useful, said BEF president Md Fazlul Haque at the seminar in Geneva on Tuesday.
While presenting the keynote paper WTO director general Pascal Lamy said the aid for trade initiative should be integrated with capacity building activities in developing countries.
International Labour Organisation director general Guy Ryder highlighted the mismatch of supply and demand of workers in the developing countries.
He said the ILO was running several programmes in different countries to increase the skill level of the workers.
World Bank’s director Jeffery D Lewis and National Employment Agency of Cambodia’s head Hong Choeun also spoke at the seminar, among others, said a news release.
