Bangladesh Accreditation Board would receive international certification within 2014, as the organisation has already fulfilled the required obligations by issuing accreditation certificate to six local and international standard testing organisations.
Officials at a workshop on Monday revealed their optimism to avail of the certification where industries minister Dilip Barua was present as the chief guest.
BAB organised the two-day workshop on ‘International Standard Certificate ISO/IEC 17025’ at the conference room of the industries ministry.
Industries secretary Mohammad Moinuddin Ahdullah attended the workshop as a special guest with BAB director general Mohammad Abu Abdullah in the chair.
BAB director Sudhakar Dutta, Imam Hossain of DBL Group and Momena Akhter of Lub-rref (Bangladesh) also spoke on the occasion.
Dilip Barua said knowledge-based industrialisation is a must to address the challenges of globalisation. So, there is no alternative to producing skilled and trained manpower, he added.
The minister hoped the training organised by BAB would contribute significantly to the development of testing quality of country’s laboratories.
