MOUNT ELBRUS EXPEDITION
Photo show features Bangladeshi mountaineers’ trip
Three Bangladeshi mountaineers—Musa Ibrahim, Niaz Morshed Patwari and Sifat Fahmida Nawshin, conquered Mount Elbrus in Russia on July 26. Some magnificent images of their expedition are on display at a photography exhibition at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
The show displays 54 photographs mostly captured by Musa Ibrahim, the first Bangladeshi to conquer the Mount Everest, and a few by Niaz Morshed Patwari. Rejoicing mountaineers after reaching the summit, breathtaking scenes of the mountain range, images of Moscow, the capital city of Russia, have been captured through the lenses of the ambitious mountaineers.
A photograph taken by Ibrahim shows the three mountaineers celebrating the victory with the national flag of Bangladesh after reaching the summit. The green and red national flag at Europe’s highest mountain peak, which is about 18,540 feet high above the sea level, will surely make any Bangladeshi proud.
The show covered sky high mountain range initiates feelings of awfulness in the minds of viewers.
The Azure valley, the base of the mountain, has appeared with all its grandeur in images taken by the mountaineers. Forests with lush green trees and refreshing fountains with the sky as the backdrop will lure the viewers to visit the valley in reality.
The mountaineers had also arrested the great city of Moscow and its night life through their cameras.
Sifat Fahmida Nawshin shared her experiences of climbing the summit with New Age. ‘We planned to reach the peak on July 21, but due to the adverse weather condition prevailing for the next few days, finally we were able to climb the summit on July 26,’ revealed Nawshin. The exhibition, which began on July 14, will remain open for everybody from 12:00 to 8:00pm till July 21.
