Creative Football School and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology’s Environment Committee jointly organised the Under-12 football festival
at the BUET staff quarter field on Wednesday.
Creative Football School, run by former national footballers Saiful Bari Titu, Ataur Rahman Khan, Imtiaz Ahmed Nakib, Jewel Rana, Aminul Haque and Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra coach Maruful Haque, arranged the festival for the first time to create a competitive
mentality among the young players.
Six teams are participating in the festival on the basis of a round-robin league and the top four teams will contest the semifinals. The final match is scheduled to be held on July 29.
Creative Football School started their venture two years ago in September. 48 students are learning the basics of football, divided into two age-based categories.
‘Our main goal is to produce creative footballers for the future,’ said Maruful Haque, head coach of the Football School adding, ‘We started two years ago. Now we have 48 players and they are all training two days a week. Due to a lack of fields, we could not properly broaden our project, but in the future we will establish different branches across the country.’
The school provides free training to the players.
