The Armed Police Battalion arrested a man at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on early Saturday along with huge amount of undocumented cameras,
mobile phone sets and gold worth about Tk 50 lakh, the police said.
Mizanur Rahman Ripon, 32, was arrested at about 12:15am after he walked through the green-channel, meaning he was not carrying anything illegitimate.
Mizanur flew off Singapore by a Singapore Airlines flight and landed in Dhaka at about 11:45pm on Friday, said the battalion’s assistant superintendent of police Alamgir Hossain Shimul.
The police searched his luggage and found 400 gram gold, and 35 expensive mobile phone sets, 98 pieces of compact and expensive cameras of Nikon, Canon, and Samsung brands.
After primary interrogation, Mizanur said that one Sujon, 45, in Singapore had handed him a luggage to smuggle those to Dhaka, the police said.
