EC to sue 25 for failing to submit expenditure returns
Khulna regional election office was preparing to sue 25 councillor candidates of 31 wards, who contested the recently held Khulna City Corporation polls, for not submitting returns of election expenditure within the deadline that expired on July 24.
Three mayoral and 157 councilor candidates, however, submitted their election returns within the deadline.
The 25 councillor candidates did not submit their election returns within the given time, among them, six being women councilor candidates who had contested for the reserved seats.
The assistant regional election officer, Ruhul Amin Mallick, said that those who did not submit election returns within 30 days of gazette notification would be sued for violating KCC ordinance.
