Bangladesh secretariat has turned into a virtual car parking lot for the ministries and divisions at night posing great risks to the ‘key point installation’ of the government, officials said.
They said hundred of cars of the ministries and divisions are parked inside the secretariat illegally at night threatening security of the protected government establishment.
Besides, they also kept unfit vehicles at every nook and corner of the secretariat covering a considerable area of land inside the secretariat.
The law enforcing agencies have reportedly alerted the ministry of home affairs saying that car parking at night posed risk to the security of the secretariat having at least nine multi-storey buildings.
To ensure the security of the secretariat the ministry of home affairs has recommended the ministries and the divisions to park the cars elsewhere at night.
It also recommended removing the unfit vehicles from the secretariat premises by 29th of August.
The ministry of home affairs in a letter to the ministries and divisions warned that they would send the illegally parked vehicles to the dumping place if the directives are not followed with the deadline.
Illegal parking also goes on unabated outside the secretariat at Abdul Gani Road by the ministries and the division during the office time.
Vehicles are parked in more than one row blocking the busy thoroughfare that links other roads of the area around the secretariat, the hub of the government activities.
