The authorities of Dhaka University and Presidency University, Kolkata are going to set up a collaborative centre of studies in culture and literature, said the universities’ high ups.
Dhaka University vice-chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique told New Age that a centre on culture and literature would be set up at Dhaka University.‘But it is yet to be finalised and signed,’ he said, adding, ‘we will sign it soon.’
Meanwhile, Presidency University’s vice-chancellor Malabika Sarkar told an Indian news agency that the discussions were underway between the two institutions for setting up a joint centre for culture and literature studies of the two countries.
Malabika said, ‘Dhaka University vice-chancellor is personally very interested in the project based on the culture and literature of the two Bangla speaking nations.’
‘It’s still in the stage of discussion…nothing has been finalised,’ added Sarkar.
It is learned that DU Bangla department approached the Indian university for setting up a collaborative centre as a step to fostering links between the two countries.
