Following the Bangladesh Football Federation’s lead, the Bangladesh Hockey Federation has also formed a three-member committee to determine the causes of Bangladesh’s failure at the Asia Cup, BHF officials said on Tuesday.
The Bangladesh national hockey team finished seventh among eight teams in the tournament under Pakistani coach Naveed Alam, who submitted his assessment report to BHF general secretary Khaja Rahamatullah on Tuesday.
BHF president Air Marshal Enamul Bari formed the committee and three former national team captains – BKSP coach Kaysar Ali, Rafiqul Islam Kamal and Mamunur Rashid – were nominated to fill its seats.
A source in the BHF confirmed that the committee will have to submit its findings to the president by September 22.
‘To get better results, the president formed the fact-finding committee without any personnel who were involved with the team in any capacity,’ the source said.
‘The president wants to know the actual cause [of the failure], so he formed the committee. He will assess the reports from the coach and manager, and similarly he wants to review the report from the committee. After that, the BHF will take the necessary action.’
Meanwhile, Rahamatullah said that the coach’s report would be revealed at the governing body meeting, which may be held near the end of the month.
‘We will see it together at the upcoming GB meeting and also disclose its contents to the media after the meeting,’ he said on Tuesday.
