A fire broke out in Bangladesh Steel Re-rolling Mill in the Rail Gate area under Baijid police station in the Chittagong city Monday morning. Deputy assistant director of Agrabad Fire Service and Civil Defence Md Jashim Uddin said the fire originated when melted iron started discharging through a dent of the Ledel Equipment, an apparatus where iron is melted down. The fire originated at 10:00am and we doused it in two hours of frantic effort, he added.
No casualties and damage were reported in this regard.
