A daylong workshop on ‘emerging researches of computer applications’ was held at Rajshahi University on Wednesday. The computer science and engineering department of the university organised the programme as part of a sub-project under Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project of the University Grants Commission. Vice-chancellor Professor Muhammad Mizanuddin inaugurated the workshop in the morning at senate building as chief guest while engineering faculty dean Professor Mamunur Rashid and Md Korban Ali, joint secretary of HEQEP, were present as special guests in the inaugural session.
The session was presided over by the chairmen of CSE department Professor Md Ekramul Hamid.
Later, four research papers were presented in two technical sessions.
Two reaserach papers on ‘SVM-criteria-based evolutionary approach for feature selection and classification problems’ by Rameswar Debnath, department of CSE of Khulna University, and ‘Signal processing application to brain computer interfacing’ by Toshihisa Tanaka of electrical and electronic engineering department of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology in Japan, were presented in the technical session chaired by Shamim Ahmed of CSE department of RU.
