Three mobile operators got approval of tariff structure for the third-generation cellular phone service.
Officials said Banglalink and Robi were given approval Thursday while Grameenphone on Wednesday.
However, another 3G licensee, Airtel, was yet to submit its tariff plan for regulatory approval.
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission gave the approval of the 3G service packages for the three private operators in conformity with that of the state-owned telecom operator, Teletalk.
A GP spokesman said they got the approval of the tariff structure but his company is yet to take any decision regarding its details about services to be offered for clients.
The second largest operator, Banglalink, got approval of 16 packages. Banglalink will offer 1Mbps speed for the packages. Of them, the major plans are: pack-16 of 10 gigabyte (GB) data is fixed at Tk 2,000, pack-15 of 5GB is Tk 1,300, pack-14 of 4 GB is Tk 1,150, pack-13 of 3GB is Tk 1,000, pack-12 of 2GB is Tk 850 and pack-11 of 1GB is Tk 500 for the period of 30 days.
Besides, the company has different kinds of small packages for 7 days, 10 days, 5 days and one day.
Another operator, Robi designed variety speed based packages including 512 Kbps, 1Mbps, 2Mbps and 4Mbps.
Of them, the major packages with 1Mbps speed are: 3.5 GB data cost is Tk 1,250, 1.5GB is Tk 550 and 700 megabyte (MB) is Tk 300 for the period of 30 days. Besides, the plans with 512 speed are : 200MB data cost is fixed at Tk 100 for seven days period, 75MB is Tk 50 for 3 days period and 40MB is Tk 30 for one day.
Other plans with 2Mbps speed are 2GB is Tk 800 for 30 days and 650MB is Tk 250 for 15 days period while 5.5 GB data with 2Mbps speed is Tk 1,900 for the validity of 30 days.
A high official of the BTRC told the BSS that the operators would be bound to reduce the package prices gradually because the market is so competitive.
He hoped the data quality of the operators would be good.
Four cellular operators got spectrum allocation through auction process on September 8. Already the operators started soft launch of the 3G service and now planning for commercial launch by this month.
