Today’s Bangladesh Cricket Board election was hit with another court ruling as the National Sports Council was served with a show-cause notice by the fifth joint district court on Wednesday, an NSC official said. The notice was served after a case was filed by Sonar Bangla Club’s Abu Taher, Hillol Jubo Songho’s Mohammad Selim and North Bengal Cricket Academy’s MA Razzak, who claimed that the process used to select the councillors was faulty.
The complaint states that the election commission had not considered the 2012-13 first, second and third division standings in its council
lorship appeal, using instead the 2011-12 standings and depriving the complainants of councillorship positions.
The NSC was asked to answer the complaint within 24 hours. ‘We have received a show-cause letter,’ NSC secretary Shibnath Roy said on Wednesday. ‘We will submit our answer tomorrow, when we hope to clear the matter in front of the court,’ he added.
