The Chittagong City Corporation has taken steps to ensure the cleanliness of the port city ahead of Eid-ul-Azha as the city witness a huge amount of garbage generated from the slaughtering of sacrificial cattle. The city corporation in this regard opened a control room and formed a vigilance team to oversee the garbage removing work. The CCC officials said the cleaners had been asked to start work at 9:00am on Eid day and accomplish their work by 5:00pm.
The CCC chief conservancy officer, Shafiqul Mannan Siddiki, said they completed all necessary measures to remove the wastes from the city with at least two thousand workers and two hundred vehicles engaged in removing the rubbish.
Water supplying vehicles of the city corporation would be kept in every point to wash away the blood of sacrificial animals, with 100kg of bleaching powder recently supplied to 41 wards of the city corporation, he added.
Official sources said the authorities divided the city into four divisions.
The south division comprises 10 wards while the north division has 11 wards and the east and west division each has 10 wards.
Four sub-control rooms in four zones have been opened in Bibir Hat, Gosaildanga, Soraipara, Dewan Bazar wards to help the control room.
