Customs authorities yesterday recovered gold weighing over 1kg from inside a laptop at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.
On a tip-off, the officials intercepted Zakir Hossain, 35, on his arrival from Thailand and found about eight gold bars hidden inside the battery chamber of his laptop, said Mustafizur Rahman, deputy director of customs intelligence.
He said the gold was worth around Tk 50 lakh.
This incident comes only a day after a team of Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn) recovered 280 gold bars weighing around 33 kilograms from the waste basket of a toilet of a flydubai aircraft.
